28 people suffer CO poisoning after grill used in Mastic home

We responded to a call on Cumberland Street at about 9pm last night. Most if not all had signs and symptoms of CO poisoning with about half being transported by ambulance to local hospitals and treated, all expected to make complete recoveries. In total about 12 Volunteer Fire Department & EMS Agencies responded to assist at the scene. Chief Sunderman in charge of the scene stressed the fact that is never ok to use charcoal Inside any structure for any reason.
